Mysuru: Awareness campaign on ‘Traffic Rule’ was held in front of Kote Anjaneyaswamy temple on Friday January 16, which is part of 26th National Road Safety Week, which was launched on January 13.

Soujanya Attavar, President of Inner Wheel Club of Mysore Central opined that we must follow the traffic rules in order to avoid accidents. People should strictly wear helmet while riding and seat belts and driving but unfortunately not many people are following these rules, she stressed.

Dr. Saleem Commission of Police regretted the recurrence of incidents of chain-snatching in city despite strict vigil and added that since November 22, 2014. He said that cases of chain- snatchings have been hiked, the city recorded four cases yesterday itself. It also ruled out suggestion by newsmen to issue shoot-at-sight orders on chain-snatchers.

Looking at the timing of yesterday’s incidents, the possibility of involvement of a gang of professionals from Bengaluru is being speculated, he said.

He added that the City Police would take all necessary measures in future to overcome the menace.

DCP M.M.Mahadevaiah, ACP Prabhakar Barki, Inner Wheel District Chairman Vinitha Sathish and office-bearers of the Club were present.
