Mysuru: The city of Mysuru is slowly gearing up for Dasara celebrations and the place is bedecked with paintings and different kinds of lighting.

One the main roads, Sayyajirao Rao road through which the procession moves, arches have been raised and brightening fixtures are being installed.

Since farmer’s protests over Cauvery have somewhat dampened the spirit of the festival, there is a likelihood of a decline in the number of tourists visiting the city. Unfortunately, this may affect the overall trade during this period as compared to earlier years.

But the government has not slackened in its efforts to make sure everything goes smooth, as it has made extensive security arrangements and has incorporated many new packages which include helicopter rides, palace on wheels for all those visiting the city of palaces. The Cultural extravaganza is going to be in store for the visitors with a wide range of programs across various venues in the city.

The good thing is that irrespective of the SC verdict, those who love the city of palaces would still be eagerly looking forward to seeing and participating in this ‘festival of land’, which happens only once a year.

The 11-day festival will be inaugurated on October 1 and conclude on October 11 at Bannimantap grounds with the torch light parade after Jamboo Savari.
