Mysuru district to have special wards to treat Dengue cases

Mysuru: Due to alarming dengue cases in the district, Health Minister K Ramesh Kumar instructed district health department officials to come out with exclusive ward to treat dengue positive patients. District health department is mulling out to set up exclusive ward that is on the lines of ICU at Epidemic Disease Hospital on KRS road. To instill confidence and to provide much better treatment to those who are suffering from dengue disease, health minister called upon health department officials to treat them in exclusive special ward.

“The ward will have all facilities to treat the dengue patients like including blood platelets supply, standard drugs which will be available free of cost and above all this they will be monitored round the clock. Such exclusive ward will be set up where there is more number of dengue cases in the state,” said Ramesh.

 Dr S Chidambara, District Vector Borne Diseases Control Officer said, “The proposed exclusive ward will be on the lines of ICU. The ward will have all facilities including apparatus for respiratory, heartbeat, ventilators and other such facilities. We will inspect ED hospital where we are planning to come out with exclusive ward. The detail report including what all requirements we needed will be submitted to minister in couple of days. As on July 31, 271 positive dengue case has been reported in the district. Among them, 186 are undergoing treatment at private hospital while rest are at government hospital.

The decision regarding district hospital is left to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and district minister HC Mahadevappa: During the meeting Ramesh Kumar said with regarding location of proposed district hospital in Mysuru, the decision left to CM Siddaramaiah and district minister HC Mahadevappa.
