Mysuru: The District Sand Committee has decided to cater to the sand scarcity in the city by
importing sand from Hassan and Mangaluru District; they fixed on it during a meeting held here at Deputy Commissioner Office on Tuesday.
Senior geologist of Department of Mines and Geology, Mysuru, Lingaraju said we require 50 loads of sand everyday for the city, to import sand from Mangalore it costs 35,000 to 40,000 for every 500 tons which includes the transport charges and from Hassan it has calculated that Rs.12, 000 for a load which also comes with transport charges.
Further he said, to prevent the illegal sand transport in Hunsuru, T Narasipur, Nanjngud, three patrolling vehicles are necessary. The police have seized many illegal sand vehicles that should be disposed for the government works, he pointed.
On which Superintendent of Police Abhinav Khare said, “We would release the seized sand for the constructive works of the Government.
Further on the decision Lingaraju asked to provide the man power and extra facilities in the five check posts in the district, he urged that there is a need of CCTV Cameras, Security Guard which will cost around 35 lakh rupees.
SP assured that they will provide 10 police constables but he demanded that all departments should be elect personnel for security. Meanwhile, DC Shika assured that will sanction the required amount.
