Mysuru City Police kicks off National Safety Week programme

Mysuru: Mysuru City Police is celebrating National Safety week starting from Jan 13th to 20th of January, encouraging the thought of safety in the minds of the general public and commuters of the city.

Inaugurating the programme,  District In charge minister Srinivas Prasad said that programmes like these educate the public and alert them to the consequences of violating the traffic rules and regulations.

Mysuru City Police is doing a great job by conducting these programmes. The event is organized targeting the younger generation such as school children and youngsters to edify them as most of the accidents are in the age group 20 years to 35 years.

The road width of high traffic density roads like Mysuru to Nanjangud  will be increased to avoid accidents; the State government has already started work, he informed.

Dr MA Saleem, Commissioner of Police instructed the children to follow the traffic rules and regulations, he said, “You should understand the importance of road safety and must have a good knowledge of the traffic rules and regulations.”

Traffic rules have always been vital for safe roads. Our city is growing bigger each day and also the vehicular traffic on the roads. Several thousand lose their lives and limbs in road accidents every year and public safety is the main intention of this programme, he added.

M K Somashekar MLA, Lingappa Mayor, Mahadevappa DCP and other police officials were present at the inaugural programme.
