Mysore : If the Palace city boasts of a number of parks the tragedy is that none of them are in good shape and are crying for want of good maintenance. One such much neglected park is the Lava Kusha park located in ward 18 of the city.

The park located opposite the Madhav Shenoy Hall at Kuvempunagar is deprived of basic amenities. Though many people arrive here for walking and a leisure stroll during early morning and evenings, the fact is that the park does not have a good walkers’ path. To add to the problem, most of the benches here are broken. The park also lacks drinking water and lighting arrangements.
Interestingly, officials of the DC office, Mysore City Corporation and Zilla Panchayat stay in the vicinity of the park. An engineer who is associated with the park stays right in front of the park. But all of them have chosen to turn a blind eye to its pathetic state.
There have even been instances of chain snatching of women who come to the park for walking purposes. It is high time the Mysore City Corporation wakes up to the situation and take steps to give this park a facelift.
