Mysore water supply board officials pulled up for apathy

Mysore : B.L.Bhairappa, President of the Standing Committee on Finance and Appeal has issued instructions to the  authorities to close all unused borewells within a week,to  take effective measures towards regular water supply and to  collect  pending water  tax within the next 15 days. He has also warned of stern action if the rule was not adhered to.

Bhairappa was speaking at a meeting of the Vanivilasa Water Supply Board officials at his office in the Mysore City Corporation on Monday July 7.  He pointed out that the  borewells in wards 12 and 13 though  rendered useless, no effort has been made to close the same despite several directives. As the borewells are located close by residential areas in some localities, they are sure to pose danger, he said and took the officials to task for neglecting the problem.

The Water Supply Board officials assured to take steps to close all unused borewells.

Bhairappa also took the officials to task  for  not taking any measure to cut off illegal water connections  and for levying higher  bills  to those consumers who were not receiving regular water supply.
