Mysore: Mysore City Street Vendors Multipurpose Cooperative Society, the first of its kind in the state, aimed at solving the pressing problems of street vendors, was inaugurated here on Friday by Urban Development Minister S Suresh Kumar. The Society has come up in a premises behind VV Market at Agrahara town.
He said so on Friday inaugurating the Mysore Town Road Side Merchants Vividoddesha Sangha, established behind VV Market at the Town Agrahara on Friday.

Minister in Charge SA Ramdas speaking on the occasion said, usury (money lending) for larger interest being rampant in Msyore, those road side merchants paying Rs. 100 for money Rs. 900 borrowed from the usurer (money lender) by evening, these people face many a problem, he said. With a view to responding to the problems for these road side merchants Co-operative Association has been established from Rs. 5 crore capital. The State Govt. too has advanced 2 crore for this, he said.
Half of the interest that is paid by the merchants over the loan that they have raised would be used gainfully for the education of their family including children and their betterment. 5 lac Insurance facility also has been formulated. The State Govt. controlling this Vividodhedsha Sahakari Sangha, DC, Municipality Commissioner and other 7 members would be appointed through election, he said.
Application form has been released for enrolling as members for the association, the association has been symbolically given green signal, he said. Replying to a question from reporters as to whether Mysore Town Municipality and at other places JDS,BJP would have a compromise and rule over the manner in which JDS and BJP have befriended each other in Zilla Panchayath, he replied that the decision of this kind would be taken up by Chief Minister and the concerned leader of the region,he said.
