Mysore, Apr 4: The visitors to Mysore Zoo including Bannergatta national sanctuary and other zoos that are maintained by Karnataka Zoos Authority had to shell out 12.36 percent service charges in addition to entry fee.

Karnataka Zoos Authority comes under the finance Act of 1994 and had to collect the service charges on each ticket. The total sum collected has to be remitted to union government.  The union government has issued a circular in this regard during July 2012 but that has not been implemented so far.

Mysore Zoo had hiked the entry fee from Rs 30 to Rs 40 during March 2011, which is likely to increase to cover service charges now.
