Bangalore :  The  quantity of milk production in the capital has reduced substantially , thanks to water scarcity that has now hit the dairy farming industry here. The capital is already reeling under acute water scarcity.

In the wake of reduction in milk production, the demand for milk by private companies has seen a rise. It has been learnt that an acute shortage of green fodder  has hit hard the dairy industry.
Though the demand for milk is rising in the capital with its burgeoning population, there is a complaint that  the milk  produced by private companies were not as nutritious as the Nandini Milk, as the former  was mixed with  powder.

Sources within the KMF have admitted that KMF was unable to meet the growing demand for milk from various parts of Bangalore and elsewhere in the state. The milk produced by private companies are now sold at outlets in every nook and corner of the city.

Dairy farmers are also complaining that  hay which was otherwise available for Rs 10,000 per lorry load was now unavailable  even for Rs 25000 per load forcing many a dairy farmers to sell off their cattle.
