Mysuru: In its efforts to strengthen the police-public interface, the Mysore city police on Thursday launched its WhatsApp account to enhance public participation.
Police Commissioner B Dayanada launched the new WhatsApp group of the Mysuru City Police here at the Conference hall in the commitionerate office on Thursday June 11.
The public can now send – videos on parking problems or other menace, strange messages, bad behavior on traffic violation and such other illegal activities on WhatsApp number – 8861786385.
The Social Media Cell which consist a team of four members has been trained to manage such complaints. They would handle the website, twitter, WhatsApp and monitor public feedback continuously. Complaints from the public would be received through this WhatsApp account and will be forwarded for suitable action. It is made to make public participation simpler, user friendly and easy he said.
“The earlier online services of the City Police are a hit and we are expecting much more from this service. In a growing city like Mysuru if we get 8 to 10 complaints a day it is a good response”, he said.
At the same occasion Police have also come up with a section where the public can complain about their lost materials. The materials which are lost in cases other than theft can visit www.mysorecitypolice.gov.in and go to option Lost report and upload the details. This only refers to the valuables that are lost in the city limits.
Public can also complain manually
To avoid the inconvenience that is posed by the auto drivers, in a tourist friendly city who charge more than the regulated rates, and the people who are new to technology, the Police department has planned fora complaint box at the bus stand, railway station, bus stand and other public places, where the public can complain.
Reacting to the Vasumathi Case Commissioner Dayanand said that one person whose statements were found contradictory has to be sent for lie detention test for which we have sought the Court’s permission and the investigation is on.
