Manipal lady loses Rs 41 lacs in Bank account hack

Udupi: Arathi Poojari, a 40 year old lady basically from Kundapura presently working at Abu Dhabi claimed that she lost 41 Lack rupees from her SB account of ICICI bank Manipal Branch.
She is unmarried and works with Al- Raha LLC company. She speaks only  Hindi and English. In the year 2002 she worked as Lecturer at School of Hotel Administration (WGSHA)  To save her earning she opened a Savings account at ICICI Bank, Manipal Branch. After which she got a job at Abu Dhabi she continued her banking with the same account.

On March 2015 she came to India after getting the information that her mother was sick. After the treatment at Manipal on March 23 she returned to Abu Dhabi.

From April 3rd to 31st her account in ICICI has been hacked by some unknown persons from different places like Bangalore, Tamil Nadu and even from Delhi.

The transaction happened through online was Rs. 2 Lac every time and Rs. 50,000 each through ATM. A total amount of Rs. 41 Lac is been with-drawn.

She claimed of not getting a single mobile message or e- mail from bank in this regard.

On May 2015 she contacted the Bank as her ATM cards validity was over, Bank officials informed her that she has only Rs. 24 in her account and she is supposed to keep minimum balance in it. Shocked she tried to convince the officials that she has 41 Lac, but it was of no use.

She came back to India on June 10 and met the bank manager, who assured of an enquiry in this regards. She filed an FIR at Manipal police station on June 11.

While speaking to the media she said that “Bank is the most secured place to keep our savings, if that is not reliable where will we go? The money which I lost has the value of my life as it is the saving of my whole life. I demand the money back” she added.
