Mysuru: “Syllabus which most of the Universities follow in India are all outdated” and “Money, Machinery, Methodology Man Power, Materials are very important to know about them as civil engineer” said Raj Pillai, Executive Director Sobha Developers.
He was addressing the delegates from different parts of India and the world at an International Seminar on Industrialization in construction organised by Builder’s Association and CREDAI Mysore.
He was of the opinion, that the syllabus which most of the Universities follow in India are all outdated resulting in the poor production of Engineers who fail to bring value which the Industry needs for the development, and it also a social issue.
He suggested to the delegates to avoid the fatal accidents at sites. Currently they exceed 40K, and unfortunately these go unrecorded, nor are reported. More than 1000 near-misses cases will be registered in foreign countries and they are sorted before it could leads to major accident or fatal accident.
He suggested that civil engineering companies and builders add other ingredients to the concrete used in construction to increase the durability and also saves 20-30% of cement. He lamented that lack of understanding the materials is one of the major drawbacks of all civil engineers and builder companies.
Concluding he said high performance constructions and composites are the future material which would shape the construction Industry.
Chief Guest Nagaraj, President CREDAI Karnataka informed all the delegates that Karnataka is one the most happening states where most the development projects are going on and other states have started following its lead. He said 70%of the labor who are working in the construction industry are from other states, and since other states are also coming up with huge project, the labor may go back to their home state, resulting in a major labor problem.
He suggested the use of technology and machinery which is better idea to overcome the situation, else the future would be difficult to handle. “Adopting new technology is must, and Sobha Developers who are in the field since 1994 have implemented these new technologies, the contribution from them is immense and all should follows the footsteps of Sobha Developers”, he added.
