Madikeri: MLC M C Nanayya advised the district administration to shut down illegal home stays that are functioning in Kodagu, which are alleged to have become centers of immoral activities.

MLC Nanayya in his letter to Deputy Commissioner Dr N V Prasad stated that despite the tourism department has formed rules and regulations related to home stays in the state, there are several such illegal facilities that are functioning.

The flourishing of illegal home stays indeed threatens the cultural hierarchy of Kodagu.  The home stays facility being run in rented houses without registering with authorities, besides guest houses that violate the set rules, advised MLC Nanayya.

There are over two-thousand home stays are functioning in the district, out of which only 168 are registered.  At this backdrop, he sought the police department to crack down on home stay menace, urged MLA Nanayya.
