K R Nagar: After allegations of sub-standard food grains being distributed in KR Nagar surfaced, the MLA did a reality-check and was shocked to know the truth.
There were several complaints that the food grains distributed by the government are of low quality. Following this, S R Mahesh, MLA from K R Nagar taluk visited the godowns nearby and while inspecting he found half of the Ragi sacks filled with stones. He took food official Hanumanthegowda and Jayaram to task for distributing it to the people despite knowing that it was of low quality.

He also showed the stone-filled Ragi to the officials and asked whether they wanted the people to fall sick after consuming it. He also ordered them to stop distribution immediately.

Officials expressed their concern as to how it would affect the people if they stopped distributing the food grains. However, the MLA asked the officials to wait for a month and if the situation continued, he instructed them to separate stones and dust in the grains and distribute them.
