Madikeri: MLA Appacchu Ranjan criticized Kodagu district-in-charge minister Dr H C Mahadevappa, for not responding to the people who have lost properties worth a few crore of rupees owing to excess rains.
Addressing the media persons, MLA Appacchu said that the torrential rains have caused widespread damage across Kodagu district. It has caused havoc on the coffee plantations including other crops, which will take 2 to 3 years to recover. The farmhands who are dependent on these crops are in distress. At this backdrop, MLA Appacchu urged to wave the farm loans and accumulated interests for at least 2 to 3 years, urged MLA Appacchu.
The torrential rains have damaged the paddy cultivation as the saplings are inundated, said MLA Appacchu. He urged the state authorities to grant compensation to farmers for loss of crops, urged MLA Appacchu.
MLA Appacchu sought the explanation from the minister Dr H C Mahadevappa, who is really in-charge of the district, whether he or his son.
