Mysore: Police said, one of their own, a police constable from hunsur, was thrashed by the public for his alleged indecent behaviour in Periyapatna late on Thursday.

Police said a khaki-clad Shivakumar is alleged to have made a fool of himself at a crowded square in Kampalapura, but no complaint has been filed against him.

Sources said Shivakumar, from Periyapatna, earned the ire of the public for a second time in recent times and he is said to lapse into such acts under the influence of alcohol.

A senior officer said the department has taken note of the incident and would probe it discreetly.
