Restaurant at Kadri vandalised after owner turns down hafta demand

Mangalore: The Diner’s Paradise restaurant located at Kadri Mallikatta was vandalised by a group of miscreants on July 9, Wednesday night, reportedly after the bother of the owner Waheed, turned down their demand for hafta.

The assailants broke the window panes, computers and other furniture in the restaurant. There is information that police have arrested seven persons in connection with the vandalism.

It is learnt, a certain Santoshraj had visited  the restaurant with two associates a few days ago,  had food at the hotel and refused to pay the bill. When enquired by the brother of the restaurant owner, he  reportedly said the bill would be cleared only if the demand of his “Anna’ was fulfilled.  Three days later, he again arrived and repeated the earlier act and when insisted paid the bill saying  he had to follow the instructions of his ‘Anna.’

It is learnt, on Sunday,  the man had come to the restaurant with six others and was seen holding a knife in hand. This time,when asked to pay the bill, he brandished the knife. Though a few police personnel were present outside following a request by the restaurant owner, by the time they entered, the accused had fled.

Again on July9, Wednesday night the accused wearing a helmet arrived, attacked the brother of the restaurant owner and fled  after vandalising the restaurant.
