Mysuru: The Mysuru City Corporation will start the process of regularization of unauthorized constructions under the Akrama-Sakrama scheme from Monday.
The civic body will receive the application seeking regularization from Monday. The MCC expects to get some 30,000 applications. Mayor R Lingappa and MCC commissioner C G Betsurmath on Sunday told reporters that following the go-ahead from the government, they are initiating the process to receive applications from the violators. They said the applications will be received for a year.
Referring to the Karnataka High Court direction to the state government not to process applications with regard to regularization of unauthorized constructions, betsurmath said: “We are restricting the move to collecting the applications, which will be processed later.”
A division bench headed by Chief Justice D H Waghela had last week passed an interim order banning regularization of unauthorized constructions while admitting PILs challenging the scheme. It has posted the next hearing to April 15.
Betsurmath said the MCC had received 1,500 applications in 2007 when the scheme was launched. This time we expect to get 30,000 applications, he said. The scheme will get big money as the violators will have to pay fines and the revenue will be used for the development work in the areas they are collected while a part will be used for the growth of the city, he stated.
Mayor said the nine zonal offices of the MCC will receive the applications and separate staff have been deputed for the purpose. The booklet containing details about the scheme will be available at the zonal offices. The applications should be submitted along with documents, he said asking the public not to take help of middlemen.
