Degree student gangraped by lover, friends

Mandya: Four people have been arrested on charges of gang-raping a 20-year-old college student on Sunday, in Mandya.
Keerthigowda, Kiran, Mohan Kumar and Manju, all residents of KR Mill Layout in Mysuru were arrested on Sunday.

According to sources, the victim, also a resident of KR Mill Layout and a second year BA student who was in a relationship with accused Keerthigowda was taken to Baby Hill in Pandavapura taluk in Mandya on Friday.

Keerthigowda, on the pretext of marrying her, took her to an isolated place and called three of his friends over the mobile phone for the ‘wedding’. The victim said that there, Keerthigowda and two of his friends raped her. Manju, the fourth accused, however,  did not rape her.  After the crime, they left her there and returned to Mysuru.

The woman managed to reach her house and narrated the horror to her parents. She filed a complaint at Pandavapura police station on Saturday night. The woman has been sent to Mandya Institute of Medical Sciences for medical examination. Experts from the Forensic Science Laboratory visited the crime scene.

This is the second gang-rape incident reported in the State within two weeks. On October 3, a 22-year-old call centre employee was allegedly gang-raped in a van by the driver and his friend.
