Stray dog menace: Rabid dog mauls two-month-old baby

Bengaluru: A rabid dog mauled a two-and-half-month-old baby and seven people in Anekal town on Sunday.

Chetan, son of Madesha and Geetha was immediately taken to Vani Vilas Hospital and is critical.

The incident took place on Sunday when Geetha was busy with household chores and Madesha was bathing. The rabid dog wandered into the house and bit the sleeping child. On realising what happened, the boy’s mother screamed for help and neighbours rushed inside and chased the dog out. It ran into a nearby compound, and bit six others, including a woman. The victims were rushed to a nearby hospital.

Chetan was referred to Vani Vilas, while the others were taken to the Anekal government hospital. Later, the locals managed to catch the dog and kill it.

The incident has yet again brought into focus the menace of stray and rabid dogs in various parts of the city.
