Madikeri : The Public Works Department has initiated the task of evacuating huge boulders that have  fallen on the road after a hill  on the Bhagamandala- Talacauvery Road near the View Point  caved in  on July 11 due to incessant rains. The  road towards Talacauvery, the place of origin of river Cauvery is completely cut off since then.

It is a common sight to see pilgrims heading towards Talacauvery returning  after offering prayers at  Bhagandeshwara Temple and Triveni Sangama  of Bhagamandala. PWD officials say it may take at least one year to clear the road for traffic.

MLA Bopaiah visits : Local MLA K.G. Bopaiah visited the place on Sunday and held talks with officials. He also directed the officials to take early steps to clear the road.

Meantime, rain is continuing in the area. The water level at Triveni Sangama has also seen a rise.
