Madikeri: A government bus struck and damaged the 50-year-old statue, which is currently housed in the General Thimmaiah Museum. Dr. Mantar Gowda, the MLA, provided comprehensive information to the responsible minister. The minister has given instructions for the repair and restoration of the existing statue.
Back in 1973, this statue was crafted through the dedicated efforts of the esteemed statesman M.C. Nanaiah. Dr. Manthar Gowda stressed the importance of preserving it, a sentiment that was concurred with by Minister Bosaraju. He personally inspected the site where the General Thimmaiah statue was damaged, alongside Congress District President Dharma J Uthappa and prominent individuals including Hans, Tennira Maina, Surya Abraar, as well as other Congress leaders.
