Kodagu VHP secy Kuttappa’s death was not accidental: Investigating officer

Madikeri: The investigating officer appointed to look into the death of Kodagu Vishwa Hindu Parishad’s district organizing secretary Kuttappa, in his charge-sheet has mentioned that the latter’s death was not accidental but was a culpable homicide or an unintentional murder.

Town police Circle Inspector, IP Medappa, who is also the investigating officer, has held Khalid (38) from Netaji Nagar, Gafoor (36) from Nellihudikeri, Razak (27) and P M Ashraf (29) from Tyagattur, Faizal (26), Akbar Ali (21) and Shamsheer (22) from Nalvattekre, Saifuddin (20) from Ponnatmotte and Hameed (26) from Guhya as the murder accused under Section 304, in his charge-sheet filed in the Principal Civil and JMFC Court here.

While Khalid, Gafoor, Razack and Faizal are in judicial custody, the other five are absconding.

Despite severe opposition from across the state against organizing Tipu Jayanti, the State government celebrated the Jayanti on November last year. Tense situation erupted between two communities and Kuttappa lost his life in the clash.

Following this, Dali, son of Kuttappa, filed a police complaint against the organization which had supported Tipu Jayanti celebrations and also leaders of some political parties.
