Mangaluru: Ahead of the Zilla and Taluk Panchayat polls, the district unit of the BJP released its party manifesto at the party district head office, here on Thursday, February 11.

Protection of natural resources, construction of vented dams, security to farmers, compensation to endosulfan victims and education to downtrodden children are among the prominent assurances in the manifesto.
Addressing the media, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel expressed confidence that the BJP is going to register a landslide victory as the public is disappointed with the anti-public administration of the Congress government.
He said that the Siddaramaiah government has failed to stand by the farmers across Karnataka, especially Dakshina Kannada.
“Firstly, it did not announce support price for areca growers. Now, it has moved the court on acquiring Kumki land. Several farmers have committed suicide in the last three-and-a-half-years during the Siddaramaiah rule. However, the government took
no measures to cater their needs.
Further, taking potshots at the administration in the district, Kateel said that 22 murders took place in just about a month.
“Murders occurred inside the prison. Assaults on women are on the rise. But the government is doing nothing to control the menace. Moreover, the government has withdrawn the funds that the Zilla and Taluk panchayats were bound to get,” he said adding that people of DK are intelligent and will certainly keep the Congress government at bay in the upcoming elections.
Speaking about the Yettinahole project, he condemned Siddaramaiah as the latter has been adamant on implementing the project. Asked about the differences in the BJP on the issue, he said that he will continue his fight until the project is quashed.
