Lone girl gets a family through wedlock

Mysuru: The 27-year-old K B Yogesh welcomed an orphaned woman into his family by marrying her at Sub Registrar’s office in Mysuru here on August 3.

The family members of Yogesh, a native of Keremane village in Sringeri Taluk of Chikkamagaluru district were looking for a bride for Yogesh. Already, he had checked three to four offers but he was interested in none of them. His cousin who came to know of this, told Yogesh’ family members about this girl. Yogesh and his family members as per his cousin’s advice went to see 24-year-old Mariamma in Mysuru. It was love at first sight for Yogesh on seeing the girl and in turn Mariamma also liked him. Later, the proposal was brought to the notice of Women and Child Welfare department which was taking care of Mariamma.

The department started the procedures and formalities including collection of information about Yogesh and also about his health. Later, they submitted the proposal to the head office in Bengaluru which gave the green signal for the alliance. The department decided the date and on August 3, in the presence of Deputy Commissioner D Randeep and Radha, Deputy Director, Women and Child Welfare Department, Yogesh along with his family members including his parents entered the wedlock at Sub Registrar’s office.

Yogesh is a commerce graduate while Mariamma completed BA and was working in a private firm. Yogesh’ family members have planned a traditional marriage in their village on August 11.
