Mysore: The Mysore Traffic Police who have made wearing seat belts mandatory for motorists, have already penalised and initiated legal action against several motorists who violated the rule. However, in a latest incident, they have been accused of being biased in enforcing the rule and allowing a foreign lady scot free after just imposing penalty, no matter the difficulty they faced in stopping her vehicle.

This was what happened in the town on Monday July 14 evening. A red colour Maruti Suzuki car bearing registration No. KA 05 MC 9278 was passing through Harding Circle when the traffic police signalled the foreign lady who was driving the car to stop, after noticing that she was not wearing the seat belt. However, she sped forth without stopping. The traffic cops on duty immediately passed the message to the personnel deputed at other spots. However, the efforts of the police to stop the car went in vain and it was after much difficulty teh car was stopped by Devaraja station SI Jayaprakash and his staff near the city bus stand. This disrupted traffic on the route.
The cops who checked her documents, slapped a penalty of Rs 700 and let her free without booking her for giving them a tough time by not heeding to their directive to stop.
Public were heard questioning if the police would have acted in a similar fashion if it any other ordinary citizen had acted in a similar fashion.
