Mysuru: A lady professor of West Bengal origin has filed a complaint of sexual harassment against the Director of Central Institute of Indian languages (CIIL) based in Mysuru.

In her written complaint, Professor Dr.Sangeetha Saikia has accused the CIIL director Professor Avdesh Kumar Mishra of emotionally harassing her by forcing her to involve in sexual activity and making repeated provocative phone calls using foul language. She had lodged a complaint earlier with the National Women Commission (NCW) demanding action against the Director. She is currently working as an assistant professor at a language institute, Vishwa Bharathi in Assam.

The NCW had redirected the complaint to Mysuru city police commissioner for further action. Jayalakshmi Puram police had registered an FIR on July 25 against the director (CIIL falls under Jayalakshmi puram police station) and read out the complaint in front of the jurisdictional court judge on July 26.

Now Director on the run!

Sensing trouble, the CIIL director has gone on leave and is absconding. When the police went to his office with a notice demanding his presence on July 26, the office staff informed the police of his absence. It is learnt, he has taken leave to plan further strategy to evade a possible arrest.
