Kirloskar company workers oppose layoff

Mysore: Members of the Kirloskar Power Company Employees Association staged a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office here  urging the management to withdraw the ‘unlawful’ layoff and  re-induct the employees.

The agitators  pointed out that the management had  imposed a 30 day lay-off for 55 workers with effect from November 25. They further alleged that the company had unlawfully  announced layoff on the pretext of financial crunch. They also stated that there is no scope for layoff, retrenchment or closure of the factory without the permission of the government.

They also alleged that the company had failed to adhere to the ruling of the Assistant Labour commissioner of Mysore Division  to allow the workers to perform their duties.

The agitators also submitted a memorandum to the DC on the occasion.

 

ITI students stage protest opposing semester system

Mysore: The Members of the District Committee of All India Democratic Youth Organisation staged a protest in front of the DC office here on December 10, Tuesday  urging the government to drop the Semester system for ITI students from the current academic year.

The agitating students alleged that the  semester system was against the interests of the students.

Chandrashekhar Meti, District President of the Organisation said such schemes should be introduced after taking the students, educationists and teachers into confidence. He accused the government of forcibly imposing the  semester system on students.

The students also submitted a memorandum to the DC  to consider their demands.
