Mysuru: Karnataka Exhibition Authority Chief Executive Officer has filed complaint against Mysuru Royal Family members who tried to demark Garike Maala which is also known as Doddakere Maidan after obtaining court order here on Thursday.
It may be recalled that in 1992, when government approached the court alleging that 10.36 acre of the said land belongs to them, while the Royal family argued that it belonged to them. To start with government suffered setback as lower court went in favor of royal family. However, in 2002 the government approached the High Court, where the decision of the lower court was upheld and the HC rejected the petition in 2009. Without losing hope, the government then approached the Apex Court and to their dismay, the case was dismissed and judgment went in favor Mysuru Royal family members. Along with the Supreme Court order, Mysuru Royal Family applied for Khata in Mysuru City Corporation but corporation authorities, but for reason best known to the corporation authorities, the issuing of Khata was delayed. Following the delay, the Royal family approached the High Court and on April 2016, the HC ordered the MCC to issue the Khata in eight weeks. Despite Royal Mother Pramodha Devi having applied for the Khata on May 3, 2016, the MCC has not issued the Khata yet.
On Thursday, based on direction from Pramodadevi Wadiyar, the workers belonging to Mysuru Palace with court order in hand, brought bulldozer to demark their Garike Maala property but officials from Karnataka Exhibition Authority office is just situated next to the ground approached and tried to stop the work alleging that the case is pending before the court. The members belonging to Mysuru Royal Family showed the court order but KEA CEO NM Shashikumar filed a complaint with Nazarbad police alleging that though there is case pending before the court against the property, the Royal family has gone ahead to demark the property.
“As far as I am concerned there is no controversy related to this property. We have Supreme Court order and we are waiting for khata from the corporation. We have applied for khata in May 2016, due to retirement of former Corporation Commissioner Betsurmath, Khata might have been delayed, but we are confident that once the new commissioner takes charge we may get Khata at the earliest” opined Pramodadevi.
On the other side Shashikumar, CEO, KEA stated that the said place is being used by the KEA as parking lot.
“There is litigation between the KEA and the Mysuru palace at First Divisional Civil Court. We have hearing coming up on September 6. The work mooted by the Royal family cannot be allowed and hence we have brought the matter to the notice of the police,” he said.
