Siddaramaiah welcomes Mahadayi Water Dispute Tribunal’s advice

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday welcomed Mahadayi Water Dispute Tribunal’s advice to the three states to settle Mahadayi water dispute through holding talks. Siddaramaiah said that he would write letters to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar and Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis.

Describing Mahadayi Water Dispute Tribunal’s advice as a good development, Siddaramaiah said that he was ready to hold talks with the Chief Ministers of the two states. “I have been in favour of finding a solution to this problem by holding talks with the stakeholders. I will write letters to the Chief Ministers of Goa and Maharashtra shortly. I will also request Prime Minister Narendra Modi to convene a meeting for chief ministers of Karnataka, Goa and Maharashtra. I will request the chief ministers of Goa and Maharashtra to come to Bengaluru for holding discussions on Mahadayi water dispute. I am ready to go to Goa or Maharashtra if they organize the meeting in the respective states,’’ the Chief Minister said.

He also said the State government has made all arrangements to avoid inconvenience to the public due to the nation-wide bandh on Friday. “I have directed the home ministry to take all measures to avoid inconvenience to the public,’’ he said.
