Jamboree participants excel in adventure sports

Mysuru: Participants had a thrilling and exciting experience at the various adventure events which was organised as part of the 17th National Jamboree at Adakanahalli Industrial Area.

 

For most of the participants from all over the country and also some other nations, it’s the first time and the most memorable experience. The participants including girls showed a lot of vigour and strength in the activities. Going by the outstanding talent and display from the young participants it seemed the nation has strong future ahead. The participants took part in more than 52 adventurous events including rock climbing and rappelling, commando bridge, rope climbing, tyre wall, Russian wall, fire ditch, tyre crossing, monkey bridge, ladder crossing, plank walk, swinging board, barbed wire crossing, monkey crawling, log crossing, archery and “blow out your balloon.”

 

Shuha, tenth standard student representing Maldives Girl Guides Association (MGGA), who took part in the “Tyre Tunnel” event said, “It’s for the first time I tried this adventurous event. It really was a thrilling experience. It’s an experience of a lifetime”. She took part in most of the adventurous events.

Anjum, an eighth standard student from Kolar who successfully performed monkey bridge adventure event said, “To start with I was scared and really worried whether I will be able to perform the adventure but once I started it was easy and I completed the event with a lot of confidence.”

 On the inaugural day of the event, nearly 3500 participants tried their skills in the various adventurous events. The other participants will try their skills in the various adventurous events in the next five days. Before starting the events, the rovers and rangers gave demos.

Band performance from participants: On the first day of the six day band competition, 16 states including Karnataka took part on day one of the band competition. Band 16 state took part in band competition, defending champions including Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Haryana and Nagaland. In the stipulated time given to each participating team, the participants went all out in their effort to impress the adjudicators. Nagaland with their different style impressed the participants.
