Infant Mortality drops in Karnataka

Mysuru: The infant mortality rate has come down in Karnataka from 31 in 2013-14 to 28 in 2015-16 said Uma Mahadevan, Principal Secretary, Department of Planning, Programme, Monitoring and Statistics.

Speaking during valedictory function of 21 day workshop on ‘Policy Analysis and Evaluation’ organized by Grassroots Research and Advocacy Movement in association with Cornel University (USA) at Vivekananda for Leadership Development (V-LEAD) on Friday she said, “As per National Family Health Survey IV, there is decline in infant mortality death which is really good sign. The annual budget of state government is Rs 145,000 crore; among 38 different departments there are nearly 1200 different projects and programs in our hand.”

“In the recent survey conducted by the department, the Ksheera Bhagya scheme as got good response from not only from students but also from parents as well as teachers across the state. It’s a well-received scheme across the state. We will be submitting the survey report to the government which will look into it to improve it further”, added Uma. She also mentioned that Karnataka is really progressing well in all departments, especially in education and health the state is really doing well.

The 21 day workshop was well received by the 22 participants who had come from across the country. Most of them during their feedback appreciated and mentioned that what they learnt during 21 day workshop will be passed on to students and other related staff members in their respective places.
