Mangaluru: Over 25 young students of Government school high school, Manchi Kolnadu, Bantwal taluk have started their journey in creativity, when they decided to hold an art exhibition titled ‘Collage Chitra Payana’ which got inaugurated at Prasad Art gallery on 10th June.
A collage is a piece of art made by sticking various materials such as photographs and pieces of paper or fabric on to a backing.

Taranath Kairangala, their art teacher at the school took the task of using the young minds , with pieces of papers from magazines and newspapers, created one picture through 25 students by collages. These pictures include various themes like monuments from Hampi, Natural landscapes and still life. These students study between 8th to 10 standard.
Jeevanram Sullia, Alva’s theatre’s study centre director, inaugurated the exhibition, and said that the students creativity is well brought out by the amazing talent of their art teacher, Taranath, in recognising the students ability to achieve, what the human mind believes. Their achievement also shows, that even when the students score well in the academics, they can excel in such desirable talents. He requested all parents to encourage their children in such creative activities.
Taranath Kairangala, the art teacher who took up a job in Government school, initially thought, it would be a herculean task to convince the head of the school and the students to take up such creative work. But the encouragement was so enormous that, was desired was achieved.
N.S.Pattar, lecturer, Mahalasa school of Visual Arts, Mangaluru, Jeevanram Alva, Shivarmamiah, Prof Government College of Education, Mangaluru , Ganesh Somayaji, Dinesh Holla, both artist, K.Purshotam Naik, Principal , Mahalasa school of Visual Arts, V.Ramamurthy, Principal, Government High school, Manchi Kolandu, Bantwal , S.M.Shivaprakasha, Director of Extension, Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University, Bidar took part in the inaugural function of the exhibition and also spoke.
