Mysore: Country’s first genome mapping and reading centre came into existence on Thursday here in the city with the Rajya Sabha member V Rajeev Gowda inaugurating the centre.
Genome mapping will help the doctors predict the existence of faulty genes or aberrations and help them in treating the diseases . This genome sequence based on personalized genetic and genomic testing service launched also enables a better life style, cautions about various disease predispositions and susceptibility and to delay or prevent the manifestation of the disease besides helping to minimize the side effects by recommending more target specific drugs.
It can help an individual to personally manage certain aspects of his or her health and can motivate one to apply lifestyle changes to live longer and healthier. It can also help the doctor to tailor preventive and personalized medicine programme.
