Mysuru: In a new twist to the suspected honour killing of a girl from Mysuru, the parents have confessed to have killed their daughter.
Madhu’s parents, who were taken into custody after the reports of honour killing surfaced, revealed during the questioning that they had mixed some pesticide in a soft drink and served Madhu. She had the drink, suffered for two hours and died.
Madhu, daughter of Gurumallappa and Manjula from Chandrawadi village in Nanjangud was in love with a boy from different caste for the last three years. But her parents opposed the love affair and wanted her to marry a man of their choice.
Parents locked her inside a room and pressurised her to marry a man from the same caste. But Madhu threatened her parents that she would elope and marry the guy whom she was in love with.
Angered with her decision, parents mixed pesticide in a soft drink and served her. She had it and for nearly two hours she struggled in front of her parents but they were least bothered and let her die in front of them.
During the interrogation the parents confessed to have hurriedly burnt the body of their daughter leaving no proof.
SP Abhinav Khare has informed that a case has been registered against the victim’s parents and brother on charges of honour killing.
