Mysuru: The High court has dismissed a petition given by the state PWD and district in charge minister’s son seeking exemption from the court to attend the proceedings in person on July 21 in a case related to granting licence for sand mining.
Background
When Lokayuktha police and officials of State Mines and Geology Department conducted a raid in 2010, Alphonsus, a scientist working in Geology department was caught red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 1 lakh in the presence of Sunil Bose and his supporter Raju. Later the scientist had given a written statement to the police, that it was due to enormous pressure from Sunil Bose the present state PWD minister’s son, he ended up receiving the bribe amount.
When the Lokayuktha police registered the FIR, Bose’s name was left out. However the complainant Basavaraju questioned that decision which was later changed by the local court which made Sunil Bose as the second accused and his supporter Raju as the third accused while retaining the name of Alphonsus, the first accused.
Sunil Bose may be arrested?
With regard to the above case Sunil Bose was supposed to appear in person on July 21 in the designated local court. He had filed a petition in the high court seeking exemption which was dismissed. The court is likely to order FIR registration against the accused which may result in Bose’s arrest. In such a case both Sunil Bose and the city cops are likely to face difficult moments.
