Mysuru: After the overwhelming response received for the very first Gujarat Handicrafts Utsav held last year, Industrial Extension Cottage, Government of Gujarat Organization in association with JSS Urban Haat will be organizing “Gujarat Handicrafts Utsav 2017” at JSS Mysore Urban Haat, Hebbal Industrial Area, Mysuru from June 29 to July 9.
More than 60 master artisans from state of Gujarat are participating in the exhibition. The creative artisans, majority of who have won state and national awards for their works will exhibit, demonstrate and sell their rich art and crafts like Bandhani (Tie & Dye), Kutchhi embroidery, handloom products, bamboo crafts, jute items, coir products ,agate items, Navarathri special chania choli, clay articles, patch work, bead work, terracotta, warli painting, eco-friendly jewellery items etc.
During the event, the visitors can also enjoy special Gujarati food. The exhibition will also have food stalls selling sumptuous Gujarati food such as thepla, Dhokla, fafda to name a few. The Utsav will be open between 10 am and 9 pm every day and entry will be free for the public. To keep the visitors entertained, artists will be performing Gujarati traditional dances in the evening.
Gujarat Handicraft Utsav will be inaugurated by C G Betsurmath, Executive Secretary, JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Dr. C. Ranganathaiah, Director, JSS Technical Education Division, B.R.Umakant, Joint Director (Projects), JSS Technical Education Division, R. S. Gajjar, Senior Officer, Indext-C, Gujarat, S D Makwana, Marketing Manager, Indext-C, Gujarat and Sashidhar, Assistant Director, Handicrafts Marketing & Service Centre, Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India, Mysuru on July 1 at 4pm.
