Mysuru: KS Shivaramu, President, Save University Forum said today if Governor Vajubhai Vala could initiate action against VTU Vice Chancellor H Maheshappa and Karnataka University Vice Chancellor HB Walikar, why could not he do the same against University of Mysore Vice Chancellor, KS Rangappa who is alleged to have involved in various violations more serious than that of Maheshappa and Walikar.

Addressing press persons here on Tuesday, K S Shivaramu, said based on the report submitted by Justice Bhaktavatsala committee regarding KSOU recruitment violation, the governor himself recommended to initiate action against the then Vice Chancellor of KSOU and now Vice Chancellor of UoM KS Rangappa. Though he had written a letter to initiate action against Rangappa in November itself, till date no action has been taken by the Governor though the violation he committed is more severe than that of VTU VC Maheshappa and Dharwad VC Walikar.
He also mentioned that he will write a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to initiate CBI inquiry against Governor Vajubai Wala.
“When he is involved in all sorts of violations during the recruitment of KSOU, how can the government permit him to go ahead with the recruitment which was notified recently? The government after realizing the violations in the backlog posts immediately managed to stay the process. But still, the University of Mysore is going on with its online process. It is really condemnable. UoM authorities should immediately stop online application process. If not, protest will be taken up when vice president Amid Ansari visit Mysuru to take part in the centenary celebration on June 22. They have violated the reservations. Instead of 87 backlog posts, they have just called for 55 backlog posts, which is a clear cut violation. I also heard that a candidate has to pay a bribe of Rs 25 to 30 lakh for an appointment. Hence, Rangappa should demit from office and there should be no recruitment process. In this regard, the student’s wing belonging to various organizations will be staging protest in front of round canteen on Wednesday,” said Shivaramu.
He also mentioned that during Rangappa’s tenure as Vice Chancellor of KSOU, lot of irregularities had been meted which resulted in de-recognition of the university by University Grant Commission. If the government including the Governor fails to take action against Rangappa, there are possibilities that University of Mysore will also face the same problem what KSOU is facing now, he said.
