Mysuru: Indira Canteens set up earlier this month in Mysuru is facing lot of problems. DC D Randeep on Monday stepped in and instructed Assistant commissioners to inspect the canteens and give detail ground report. Corporation authorities have proposed for four more Indira Canteens.
On January 12, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah inaugurated 11 Indira Canteens set up across the city including at KR Hospital and CADA office premise. Though there is no much complaints about quality of food supplied, there are other complaints in most of the canteens which includes lack of drainage system, lack of cleanliness, no cold storage to keep things like milk, curd and vegetables, incomplete civic work, plates not properly cleaned, no weighing machines, pending civil works, lack of proper drinking water facility for the people among others. It is said that even plates were missing in some canteens due to which contractors had served food on paper plates.
However, taking note of all these issues, the DC has asked authorities concerned to submit a report by February 12.
The DC has asked the canteen contractors to ensure there is no wastage of food and that the extra food could be given to canteens where there is shortage of food. Corporation Commissioner Jagadeesh mentioned that after a month of inauguration of the canteen, reallocation of food will be taken up.
