Mysuru: In the name of Intellectual debate, we are witnessing perversion and travesty which have gained massive proportion opined Writer Dr C P Krishna Kumar on Sunday.
He was speaking after inaugurating the 16th annual programme of Samskarabharathi and a one day seminar on the portrayal of women in Dr S L Bhyrappa’s novels at Gaanabharathi.
Addressing the gathering, he said that the freedom of speech and expression has been used for the wrong purpose. The wrong doers have amalgamated our tradition and legacy while presenting their theories, which only shows their exaggerated views.
Tradition always narrows our view while legacy gives scope for broader views. With all this we will have to maintain a logic that does strikes a balance between these two.
Speaking on the S L Bhyrappa works he said that Bhyrappa is one of the prominent writers, who is well known to the country. His writings have always received criticism for their attack on feminism. We should look at his work as a good piece of writing rather than hinting at his stance on issues.
It is important to note here that even though he is said to be against feminism his books have remained a hit with the women folk. He portrayed his works as a medium to reach out to the masses. We have to trust the art and not the author. He was dedicated to himself rather than the society. His novels have maintained a rhythm exhibiting his love for music.
