Mysuru: The day 4 Bahuroopi 2015 had a number of folk artists like Kannada Rajyotsava award winner Venkatappa Ambaji Sugathekara narrated the philosophical stories of life in the form of folk songs which was enjoyed thoroughly by the audience gathered in vanaranaga.
Another folk singer D R Rajappa from Kolar sung folk songs which were translated into Kannada from Telugu. He sang songs composed by Santha shishunala Sharif compositions.

Speaking to Newskarnataka, he opined that folk art is getting sidelined because of the influence of western culture and globalization. However, folk art has the potential to overcome these obstacles and the people know folk is the mother of all arts, he averred.
Speaking on singing translated songs from Telugu he said “the artist who sings those songs is from Karnataka and flavor of those songs signifies the flavor of Kannada so we are trying to pick those songs and translating to Kannada and trying bring those artist and songs in to main stream. I have been in this field from past 20 years and also conducting workshops on folk singing and a lot research has to be done on folk songs, then only we can get know the real value and flavor of folk”.
Kamsale by mahadev and group, Halakki Suggi Dance by Lakshman and group and Tasara Randol by Shikari and group were the highlight of Day 4 at Vanaranga.
Kasumi Sapno based on Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” directed by Ajeet Singh Palawat was also staged. The play is a romantic comedy that portrays three interlocking plots. All the incidents and events happen only in one night. Further, it portrays the events surrounding the love stories. These include the adventures of four young lovers and a group of six amateur actors, who are controlled and manipulated by the fairies that inhabit the forest in which most of the play is set. This play is a wonderful combination of romantic stories blended with comic incidents that also includes fantasy and fairy tales. It is a drama that showcases a world of dreams of four lovers and their confusions.
