Mysuru: Four village accountants have been suspended by Mysuru Disctrict Commissioner C Shikha over reports of scam in distributing compensation to farmers.
It is learnt that in Nanjangud taluk which is a home constituency of Revenue minister V Shrinivas Prasad, compensation which was supposed to be distributed among farmers has been credited to unknown people. Following reports of scam in distribution of compensation, DC Shikha ordered the suspension of four village accountants.
The government had sanctioned Rs 6.38 crores compensation to farmers through Central Drought compensation fund. It is learnt that only Rs 5.74 crores was credited to the accounts of farmers. The government had ordered to distribute the entire amount among the beneficiaries before March 5. In Hullahalli hobali Rs 3,61,812 and Doddakavalande hobli Rs 3,77,199 cash was credited to unknown people instead of farmers and it is learnt that the amount has been misused by the village accountants.
Revenue department deputy-tahshildar Ramappa had filed a complaint at Kavalande and Hullahalli police station regarding misuse of funds.
Ajjiman from Madapura, M N Sathish from Huravritha, Pradeep Singh from Dodda Kavalande and M S Anand from Gattavadipura are the village accountants against whom complaint has been registered.
The local farmers association has condemned the scam and demanded to take action against the accused at the earliest.
