Mysore: Five persons were arrested by the Vijayanagar Police, late on Sunday night, on the charges of conspiring to commit dacoity.
The arrested have been identified as Mahendra – resident of Yelwal, Rajesh – resident of Hootagalli, Umesh – resident of Belawadi, Beeresh – resident of KR Nagar and Girish – resident of Hassan.
It is reported that the five arrested persons on Sunday night, were conspiring to rob people in Hootagalli Industrial Area and were stopped by the beat police. They then tried to escape on their two-wheelers, however were nabbed by the cops.
According to the Police sources, the group of men behaved suspiciously due to which they were questioned. After they were nabbed and brought to the police station the interrogation revealed that they were habitual offenders. There are several cases of theft registered against them.
Vijayanagar Inspector CV Ravi, SI N Raghuprasad and other officials namely Somashekar, Krishnappa Mahesh and Ravi were a part of the operation.
Vijayanagar Police have registered a case and are investigating.
