Mysuru: K Kamala Karikalan, DCF (Wildlife), Mysuru Division, took charge as the new Executive Director of Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens (Mysuru Zoo) at the Zoo premises here on Wednesday, July 20. Deputy Director N.T. Vijaykumar was present on the occasion.
After assuming charge Kamala Karikalan said that she was not new to the Zoo as she had visited it a good number of times. She expressed confidence in handling the responsibility with the good support of the Zoo staff. She also assured to improve the facilities in the coming years.
Kamala Karikalan is the 2009 batch IFS officer. She is the first lady to assume charge as an Executive Director of the Mysuru zoo.
Speaking to Newskarnataka, she said, “The style of functioning varies from individual to individual and I am confident that with the support of all the staff I can come out with good administration. Even though if there is problem, I try to solve it amicably. The priority will be welfare of animals, birds and staff members. All the three are important.”
