Mysuru: A private firm which promised farmers that their money would be doubled has reportedly cheated them of Rs 26 lacs in V V Puram station limits.
Bengaluru-based Hindustan Infracon finance firm had collected Rs 26 lakhs from 24 farmers. The company came into force in the year 2012 at the prestigious Gokulam layout. They had collected money from farmers of rural area showing them dreams of using the ‘doubled’ money for agriculture and other non-agricultural purposes. The money was collected through agents and was supposed to be returned in the year 2015 with interest.
When the farmers pressurised the agents to return their money, the company owners shut the office and escaped.
Now the farmers along with the agents have registered a case of cheating at V V Puram police station. Further investigation is on.
