Explosives sniffer dog dies; laid to rest with full honours

Mysuru: Six-year-old Shyam, an explosives sniffer dog belonging to the Police Dog Squad, died this morning following liver cancer.

Shyam, a Labrador, was inducted into the dog squad when he was 11-month-old after undergoing training in Bengaluru.

Sudeep, who used to handle Shyam, said that Shyam who was an expert in sniffing explosives, was being used during the visits of VIPs to city. “He was calm and obedient in nature and following his demise I have lost a very good companion,”

Shyam, was laid to rest with full Police honours. Dog Squad In-Charge ACP Mallikarjunappa, Inspector Maraiah, ASI Manohar, trainer Sundaresh and others visited the Dog Squad Unit to pay their last respects.
