Mysore :Former MP H. Vishwanath has accused Mysore-Kodagu BJP MP Pratap Simha of misleading the public on tax imposed on Air Turbine Fuel (ATF) in the State.
Addressing a press meet at Patrakarthara Bhavan here on Friday, Vishwanath said that he had come to Suttur Mutt to present a memorandum to Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, G.M. Siddeshwar, in the presence of the Mutt Seer asking the Minister to ensure that flight operations by SpiceJet at Mandakalli Airport here are not stopped, when Pratap Simha intervened to say that private flight operators were not inclined to operate flights, because the tax imposed on ATF in the State was too high. “I then retorted saying that the Government had imposed only 5 percent Tax on ATF and questioned Pratap Simha why he was misleading the public, when the verbal duel started,” Vishwanath said and accused Simha of falsely claiming that tax imposed on ATF in the State was 28 percent.
Claiming that JNNURM Projects meant for the city were withdrawn after the NDA Government came to power at the Centre, Vishwanath alleged that the previous BJP Government headed by Jagadish Shettar had denotified 132 acres of land near Mandakalli Airport, which was notified for acquisition by the previous Govts. for the purpose of airport expansion. But Pratap Simha has been maintaining that Jagadish Shettar had not denotified the land, which is not correct, he remarked.
Referring to the Government’s decision on scrapping the 2011 batch Gazetted Probationers list, Vishwanath welcomed it saying that the decision was a right step in bringing an end to the widespread complaints of corruption, nepotism and irregularities in the KPSC.
Taking a dig at former CM H.D. Kumaraswamy for coming in support of the Gazetted Post aspirants, the former MP said that every one knew what all had happened in the KPSC during the tenure of H.D. Devegowda and H.D. Kumaraswamy as Chief Ministers.
Congress leader H.A. Venkatesh, Backward Classes Forum President K.S. Shivaram, M. Lakshmana of ACICM, Corporator Prashanth Gowda were present at the meet.
