Ethnic Kodava Community Begin Delhi Chalo

Mysore: Thousands of ethnic Kodava community are travelling in a special train that chugged-off from Mysore railway station, which was arranged by Kodava National Council (KNC) in order partake in a protest rally in New Delhi, on Friday November 1, urging the union government to grant autonomous Kodava Land.

CMC activists boarded the special train that was parked in platform number 6 at citiy’s railway station.  The each compartments were affixed with handbills and banners that highlighted the protest rally of Kodava community in the national capital seeking autonomous status for Kodava Land.

CNC arranged the train service for the community brethrens from different regions across the state including Mysore and Kodagu, in order to partake in protest rally that will begin from Ramleela maidan to parliament building, New Delhi, on Friday November 1. The special train was fitted with 20 compartments in addition a pantry.CNC hired 70 kitchen staff to cook food for 1,500 passengers who had to travel 3 days to reach national capital.Besides, the stocks of LPG cylinders, water cans, grocery, vegetables etc were loaded into the pantry stores in Mysore itself, as the activists are likely to be back in Mysore only on November 4.

All the twenty-compartments were sleeper coaches with 72 seats.  Over 1,500 people including children from across Kodagu district arrived to go to New Delhi.  The train will reach national capital on Friday November 1 early morning.  The CNC activists will stage a protest-rally from Ramleela maidan till parliament building, demanding autonomous Kodava Land and a memorandum will be presented to union government, said CNC chairman N U Nachappa.
