Mysore : Heavy rainfall that lashed Mysore, has led to destruction of crops in hundreds of acres of agricultural land after the embankment of the Hallikere Kodi lake near Mellahalli was damaged.
Most of the canals are overflowing and water from high level areas had gushed into the lake resulting in the collapse of its embankment. This led to flooding of Harohalli, Madegowdana Hundi Mellahalli, Hallikerehundi, Neeralla and surrounding acres resulting in widespread destruction of crops.
Though farmers tried their level best to prevent the water gushing into their fields, it was nothing but a futile exercise.
In some places, water was flowing above five feet. Vehicular traffic on the Mysore-Bannur main road was also suspended and alternate arrangements were made.
